The Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) has an immediate opening for a full-time Board Certified/Board Eligible Laboratory Genetic Counselor. The position will be located in the Greenwood office of the Greenwood Genetic Center.
GGC provides a unique culture integrating clinical, diagnostic laboratory, education and research divisions into a dynamic and stimulating genetics team providing services across South Carolina and beyond.This is an opportunity to join our diagnostic team of 10 laboratory directors, 2 genetic counselors, as well as staff scientists, bioinformaticians and ABMG laboratory fellows with involvement supporting all three Diagnostic sections and teaching opportunities at a nationally and internationally acclaimed institution.
The Laboratory Genetic Counselor position will serve as liaison between the Greenwood Diagnostic Labs and referring providers including, client consultations and case review, collection of clinical information necessary to interpret results and variants, coordination of complex cases, and communication results to healthcare providers. The candidate will have the opportunity to participate in test report writing, student training, and statewide genetic case review. The counselor will also assist in marketing efforts such as development of test-related content for printed materials and website as well as potential travel to conferences.

A Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling is required, and applicants must be Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. Entry level and experienced candidates are encouraged to apply. The candidate should be willing to travel within the state of South Carolina.
