Saint Alphonsus Cancer Care Center – Boise, Idaho
Our genetics program collaborates with the City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute, and offers valuable educational opportunities and experiences. Saint Alphonsus is the region's only Level II Trauma, providing the highest quality, most optimal care for all critically ill and injured patients.

This position will collaborate with physicians of the Cancer program and provide high-level, independent genetic counseling. As well, the cancer genetic counselor will work with patients and review family history, educate patients, recommend and facilitate appropriate genetic testing to minimize the risk of disease.
Develop, implement, and maintain cancer genetic counseling services
Provide cancer risk assessments
Facilitate genetic testing process, including informed consent and disclose results to patient
Counsel patients and family members
Provide standard recommendations for cancer screening and prevention
Communicate all genetic test results, cancer risk estimates, and standard recommendations to patient and any referring physicians
Document other patient interactions
Collaborate and coordinate patient care with other disciplines and medical specialties
Respond to relevant inquiries from patients, staff and physicians
Attend and participate in tumor boards
Assist with research protocols
Work with Marketing to develop materials and programs for various audiences
Discover and provide educational activities to patients, families, trainees, multidisciplinary groups
Stay current with developments in genetics and genomics
Meet medical center's Customer Services Standards including interpersonal communication and professional conduct expectations
M.S. in Genetic Counseling
Minimum of 2 years' experience in cancer genetics (preferred)
Strong communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
Knowledge of health care systems, community resources, and health insurance processes
Ability to work within a cross-functional, interdisciplinary team
Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
Proficient with M.S. Office and other computer system programs
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
